“Where there’s a will, there’s a way.” “Break the kettle and sink the boat.” “A hundred and two Qin passes belong to Chu.
The hard-working people will not be disappointed, lying down to pay for the courage, three thousand Yuejia can swallow Wu.”
After writing this couplet, Zhu Pingan thought a little and wrote another couplet:
“If a man does not show his ambition, he will not be able to live up to his natural eight-foot body.”
This sentence also has a great influence on later generations, inspiring countless people, its meaning is very clear, very inspiring, that is, want to tell is that people should be in their lifetime to fight a good fight, not as a bum. Theoretically speaking, this sentence will only be said by Feng Menglong in the “A Cautionary Tale” in a few decades, but today, he wrote it out, it should be able to play a greater effect.
After writing these two sentences, Zhu Pingan put away his pen, on one side of the village Zheng and the village old man and other people holding the brush is completely a soy sauce mentality, it did not write a few words; on the other side of the Zhang lifer down the pen like a god, has already written a pair of couplets, the pen is also put away, is not ready to write a second pair of it, end of the village old man’s family treasured tea, slightly blowing down the end of the tea, a fine taste.

Next to the eldest uncle Zhu Shouren frame is very full ah, kind smile, elegant posture, sword eyebrow horizontal and flowing beard. Of course, there is also the green scarf on his head and the confident gaze, also finished writing a pair of couplets. Is writing a second pair, very confident speed is also very fast, about three minutes later, the eldest uncle Zhu Shouren’s second pair of couplets came out.
“Shame. Shame ……” said the eldest uncle Zhu Shouren in a self-effacing manner after he had put away his pen.
When the village elder and the village chief and the others saw that the couplets were all written, they also put away their brushes, and without blushing or gasping, they casually put aside the rice paper on which they had written a few words, and mockingly said that they hated books when they were in use. They were not prepared to write in the first place. It was very much an awareness of being a green leaf.
Then what was left in front of the crowd at this time were the two couplets written by Zhu Pingan, one couplet written by Zhang Juren, and the two couplets written by his eldest uncle Zhu Shouren who had a good idea of what he wanted to do.
One of the couplets written by Juju Zhang was: “The heart is higher than the sky, and I will not rest until my ambition is fulfilled; if I set my heart on becoming a man of talent, everyone can be Yao and Shun.”
In fact, in terms of standard, the couplet written by Juju Zhang was very good, but compared to Zhu Pingan’s two couplets, especially the first one, it was a bit inferior.
Uncle Zhu Shouren’s two couplets were also placed on the table, alongside Zhu Pingan and Juju Zhang’s.
“Draped in stars and moonlight to study more; cloud sails straight to academic success.”
“Pale ink plums bloom alone in the cold this year’s Rui Xue Zhao Bao Feng Nian; Xin Xin students’ ambition is overriding; next year’s golden autumn sends joy.”

But it’s just like that, and it makes people feel a bit cheesy, and there’s not much feeling after reading it, but Uncle is very confident in these two couplets, and after writing them, he still has a sense of achievement.
Uncle will couplets on the table, first looked at the couplets written by Zhang Zuoren, well, Zhang Zuoren worthy of being Zhang Zuoren, this couplet is indeed better than their own. Originally very confident and confident uncle, his face slightly converged, but he was still quite optimistic about his own couplet, after all, he had been working on it for some days.

Uncle stroked his beard and looked at Zhu Pingan’s two couplets, but when he saw the first “where there is a will there is a way, break the kettle and sink the boat, a hundred and two Qin passes belong to the Chu; painstaking man Heaven is not to be borne, lying down on a payroll to pay for the guts, three thousand Yuejia can swallow the Wu” couplet, Uncle breathed in a shortness of breath, his hand shook and pulled down a small handful of beard from his own chin, and his face was as red as a boiled prawn. After reading the two couplets written by Zhu Pingan, the eldest uncle Zhu Shouren looked at the two couplets he had written. He wished he could turn back the clock and not write them himself.
When placed together, the contrast is too great.
After seeing the two couplets written by Zhu Pingan, Lifeng Zhang was amazed and praised them:
“Although Zhu Xian Di is young but his skills are quite deep ah, the use of flexible and new ideas, the upper and lower couplets echo naturally, a breath of air, such as clouds and water, the upper couplet is used Xiang Yu kettle broke the boat, broke the Qin soldiers, exhorting the future generation to have Xiang Yu the kind of fight to the end, the determination of the righteousness. The next couplet uses the story of King Goujian of the Yue Dynasty, who tried his guts on a bed of firewood to destroy the Wu Dynasty, encouraging the future generations to learn from Goujian’s hard work and perseverance. With determination and perseverance, can we do anything without success? The whole pair of couplets is magnificent, inspiring and breathtaking.”
“The second couplet of Zhu Xian Di is short and concise, ‘A man who does not show his ambition, is empty of his natural eight-foot body’, life is so long, if one doesn’t have some fighting spirit, if one hasn’t worked hard, how can one experience the moment of splendour of success? People in their lifetime to fight a good fight, not as a bumbling person.”
“Wonderful, these two lines are making my blood boil a little when I read them.”
Litigator Zhang praised and sighed at the two couplets written by Zhu Pingan, and when he saw his eldest uncle Zhu Shouren’s couplet, he read it and then did not express any opinion.

“Elder brother Zhang is too kind, ‘With a heart higher than the sky, I will not rest until my ambition is fulfilled; with a will to become a genius, everyone can be Yao and Shun’, Elder brother Zhang’s couplet is even more inspirational, and it can surely serve as a motivation to inspire our schoolchildren of the Lower River Village to study hard for advancement.” Zhu Pingan arched his hand and said, “These two couplets of elder brother, well, they are also excellent.”

The words of the village chief made everyone happy, and the matter of erecting the monument came to an end.
“Advise the future generation, the spirit is valuable, material is also indispensable. I have been able to study until now thanks to the care of the village. Since it is to persuade the students, I, too, will lend flowers to the Buddha, will Zhang Zuoren Zhang big brother gifted me 50 two He Yi to the village to buy grain as the “school valley”, in order to let the village in the children at ease to study, enrolled in the school by the village every year to provide a number of quan “school valley”. Ping An is young and inexperienced, so I will leave it to the village chief and the village elders.”
With these words, Zhu Pingan handed over the 50 taels of congratulations given to him by Zhang Zuoren to the village chief and asked the village chief and the village elders to be responsible for the matter of the “school valley”.
“For the sake of the village, I hope the Village Head will take more care.”
The village head still wants to push back, but Zhu Pingan insists on putting the 50 taels into the village head’s hands, and the village head accepts it after a few excuses.
The village elders and the village onlookers were even more complimentary of Zhu Pingan’s behaviour, and many of the village onlookers were even shouting their approval.
“Zhu Xian Di’s high moral character is truly a model for my generation.”
Originally, Zhu Pingan’s literary talent and knowledge had already made Zhang Zuoren’s admiration, and this moment Zhu Pingan’s behaviour made Zhang Zuoren’s admiration for Zhu Pingan’s character even greater.
