For a cultivator to reside in a place with no spiritual qi, it was tantamount to destroying his own future, let alone becoming a true disciple.

This is the Heaven Enquiring Steps? Each of these steps is only two feet high, is it hard to step up to ten steps?
Not only did Mo Wuji think so, almost everyone who stood by the Heaven Enquiring Steps thought so.

When he stepped onto the fourth step again, the pulling force coupled with the pushing force was almost two times greater than the third step. Mo Wuji raised his head and looked at the steps that were so high that he couldn’t see the top, he understood the terrifying nature of the Heavenly Enquiring Steps. This incremental rate of power was such that the higher one climbed, the more terrifying the power they endured.
It could be imagined that if one could barely climb up to the twentieth step, then no matter what, they would not be able to climb up to the twenty-first step. Under this kind of power increment, it was no longer something that could barely be resolved.
When Mo Wuji climbed up to the sixth step, the vast majority of cultivators had climbed up to the tenth step.
Although Mo Wuji was still considered to be relaxed, he was nevertheless acting out of breath in order to not climb up to the tenth step.
By the time Mo Wuji stepped onto the seventh step, he was the only one left around, even the weakest one had climbed onto the eighth step. Some of the powerful cultivators even crossed over the fifteenth step and started heading towards the sixteenth step.
